No domingo (17/9), o Emmy Awards consagrou as melhores séries de 2016. “The Handmaid’s Tale” dominou a cerimônia e arrebatou oito prêmios, entre os quais os de melhor série dramática, melhor atriz (para Elizabeth Moss), melhor atriz coadjuvante (Ann Dowd) e melhor atriz convidada (Alexis Bledel).
A minissérie “Big Little Lies” (leia mais aqui) também se destacou: foram oito Emmys, como os de melhor minissérie, melhor atriz (para Nicole Kidman), melhor ator coadjuvante (Alexander Skarsgard), melhor atriz coadjuvante (Laura Dern) e melhor direção (Jean-Marc Vallée).

Os seriados com maior número de indicações, “Stranger Things” e “Westworld”, não conseguiram tanto destaque. “Stranger”, da Netflix, levou cinco troféus (em categorias técnicas) das 18 categorias em que concorria. Já “Westworld”, da HBO, que competia a 22 estatuetas, levou só três (também em categorias técnicas).
A cerimônia do Emmy 2017 foi apresentada por Stephen Colbert, e a noite foi marcada por críticas ao presidente norte-americano Donald Trump – o ator Alec Baldwin, aliás, que faz sátira de Trump em “Saturday Night Live!” levou o Emmy de melhor ator coadjuvante em série cômica.
